About the Building
This unique wedding and event venue is also an architectural and historic landmark. First opened in 1897, today the building is the city’s official reception venue where the Mayor of Chicago has welcomed Presidents, diplomats and royalty. Located in the heart of Loop, the venue sits just across Michigan Avenue from the equally beautiful but completely modern, Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavillion. Built to house the city’s central library building, it was converted to today’s arts and culture center when the library outgrew the space. Stunningly ornate, the building featuring exquisite tile ornaments and gold detailing on nearly every inch of the interior. With a number of striking features, the crown jewel of the building is Preston Bradley Hall – A large, ornately patterned room of curving white Carrara marble, capped with a stunning, 38-foot Tiffany glass dome designed by artist J. A. Holtzer. that is stated to be the largest Tiffany dome in the world. Today, the building plays host to a multitude events. The history and stunning beauty of the detailing makes it an ideal wedding venue. The Cultural Center can host a large wedding and over the years, we have designed event for couples from every corner of the globe.
