Day of The Dead with Jose Cuervo
October 7th, 2013The Spirit of Jose Cuervo came alive for one night only at the Stan Mansion in 2011. “Subterraneo” became the theme for one of the greatest nights in recent Chicago nightlife. Take a look at some of the scenes from the evening.

Wedding Vendor Shout Out – Fotio
April 23rd, 2013The Chicago photo booth is already crowded, but just last week, we met the wonderful people behind Fotio, the photo booth-less photo booth! The came to our shop on a whim, following a tip from our friends at Stan Mansion. We, of course loved their fun setup and the crisp, black and white photography.
The setup was so easy and we were having fun taking photos in just a few minutes. And with no photos to print, there’s no waiting too. The ease and quick setup makes this perfect for any event – even at our office, the booth only took up a little space.
We love photo booths in particular, but this new company offers a super approachable, fun and quirky way to spice up any party or wedding.

A Women’s Club of Evanston Wedding
January 16th, 2013This Women’s Club of Evanston wedding was so much fun! You’ll see from the pictures, but this wedding became more than just a ceremony and reception – it was a true party where everyone had a blast. Of course, this started with the laid-back couple who were such a pleasure to work with in designing this wedding, but even the bridal party and the guests really picked up on the light atmosphere and it was palpable in the room.
For the ceremony, the couple asked for something truly unique – not content with simply having a wall of our crepe-back satin with our vintage crystals as a backdrop, they wanted to bring in an element of whimsy and had us design and produce large cloud cutouts to hang along with the crystals for a rain-like effect that brought a lot of character to the ceremony.
After the ceremony and all throughout the reception, the backdrop stayed up, providing a clean and elegant backdrop for pictures throughout the evening. You can see it in all the below pictures, which just shows how the backdrop provided added value by “beautifying” all the photos! Be sure to scroll through the post – what do you think of this fun & elegant wedding? Doesn’t the bride look stunning walking down the aisle – let us know in the comments!

Wedding Glossary: Vignette
October 8th, 2012Vignette is not a word you hear often, and yet for the Creative Team at Art of Imagination, it is essential. With applications in several areas, including literature and photography, we think of the word as a graphic design term – as in decorative designs, often in books, used to separate and decorate sections of books.
In event design, vignettes are essential – in our line of work, they are focal points that create interest at all the various venues we work at – especially larger spaces, such as the modern ZhouB Art Center in Bridgeport or the historic Stan Mansion in Logan Square – so that guests can come to an event and have various areas of interest to keep them busy throughout the night.
An especially good example of this concept is the Mad Men-themed event we created recently at Room 1520 – a modern loft-like space in the West Loop. A networking mixer where guests were invited to dress their 1950’s best – we created a cool & retro lounge setting to match the mood. A fireplace & couches on loan set the mood of the swanky party, acting as both a visual centerpiece & a place for guests to mingle & take a break from dancing.
We carried the theme throughout the space that night – as you can see in the image gallery on our Facebook Page – don’t miss it.
